VGCO MONOCHROM L
Introducing VGCO MONOCHROM L
Price: $40
Dedicated monochrome cameras exist for one reason: to produce black and white images that a color sensor simply cannot. Without a Bayer filter converting color data, every pixel is committed entirely to luminance. The result is a tonal depth, a micro-contrast, and a rendering of fine detail that photographers who have shot with one describe as immediately and permanently ruining color photography for them.
Most of us aren't shooting with a dedicated monochrome camera. They are rare, expensive, and made by a very short list of manufacturers. But the output is something worth chasing.
Monochrom L is our most faithful attempt at bridging that gap. Built by studying the output of dedicated monochrome sensors closely and dialing in the tonal response, shadow depth, and luminance rendering that makes that look so distinct. It won't fool a Monochrom owner. But it will get you closer than anything else on a color sensor.
The included modifiers give you a range of interpretations - from clean and clinical to pushed and contrasty - so you can find the version of this look that fits how you shoot.
Includes the preset, modifiers, and a user guide. Works with any camera system.
